In the “Dogani Incident” of 2005, six teachers at the Gwangju Inhwa School for hearing-impaired students were arrested for the molestation and rape of at least nine of their deaf-mute students. Two of these perpetrators were released from prison immediately because the statute of limitations had expired. These events were chronicled in Gong Ji-young’s book in 2009, and then the 2011 film, The Crucible.
This piece shows how, though no one had prevented the abuse of these young students, God sent honorable teachers, authors, and filmmakers to bring about retribution, and expose the demonic crimes. Here, the heroes are the adults who swear to protect, not harm, the future generation.
